You are not a magnet for narcissists. In fact, you’re a nightmare for them. We need to toss out this notion that being a good, kind person is a disadvantage in life or an invitation for mistreatment. There will always be people looking to take advantage of your empathy but to think that trait is a liability is nonsense.

I saw an article that said here are 5 traits that make you a magnet for narcissists. It said your empathy, compassion, and spiritual inclinations, resilience and grit make you a magnet for people who hope to keep you catering to them in the long-term while losing yourself.

It’s easy for articles like that to fool you into thinking that by hardening your heart, you protect it better. It is your openness, your ability to love after loss, to be empathetic and enthusiastic that makes you powerful. Your capacity for those things is not a soft spot for the world to exploit, it is your power.

Yu are not defined by the intentions of other people but by your ability to hang onto those traits even when it’s difficult. Your light does not weaken you, it strengthens you. It sets you apart as someone who can go through the ups and downs of life, and unlike so many other people, emerge with an open heart. Traits like kindness and empathy are not just your legacy, they’re testaments to your unbreakable spirit. So are you a magnet for narcissists? No. You're their worst nightmare because you're everything they'll never be.

3. Some of us were born to be different…

Some of us were born to be the plot twist in a world of predictable stories. What a gift that is. To chase wild dreams in a world that tells us to be realistic. To be truth tellers in a world addicted to comfortable lies.

There’s power in what makes you different. There’s power in asking "why not?" when everyone else says "why bother?" There’s power in seeking depth in a world filled with people just skimming the surface. Never change.
