🧠 A secret to happiness is "duality"

(this is how you get unstuck)

mindfulness for rule breakers, free spirits, & inner peace enthusiasts

My upcoming book “The Opposite of Settling” is 7% off right now on Amazon.  I wrote it to give you a big dose of optimism and a reminder of what you deserve. It’d mean a lot if you pre-ordered it. Thank you! Here’s an early review of it:

“Case Kenny is one of my favorite writers. This book is a breath of fresh air and a source of inspiration for anyone who is navigating love. The Opposite of Settling will not only help you connect better, but it will leave you feeling empowered. This is a must-read.” - Yung Pueblo, #1 New York Times best-selling author

THREE mindsets to help you reflect, rebel, and reinvent…

1. The power of duality

Duality is the idea that two opposite things can be true at once, and that your growth lives in the space between them.

In love, you need both solitude and connection. In confidence, you need both fire and stillness. In success, you need both effort and surrender. Duality is what gives life texture. You can’t appreciate peace without having known chaos. You can’t recognize alignment until you’ve felt misaligned.

I see this most clearly as a writer. Writing is my daily life. Thinking, expressing, editing. My mom, a lifelong reader, always reminds me: great writers are great readers. And when I’m feeling stuck with my writing, she tells me not to write more, but to read more. At first, that felt like a step back. But over time, I realized it’s not distraction, it’s duality. The best way to improve my writing wasn’t more writing. It was reading - its energetic opposite.

This truth shows up everywhere.

You don’t become a better communicator by talking more. You grow by listening more. You don’t build confidence by being louder. You become confident by holding your ground and affirming you belong there. You don’t always find fulfillment by doing more. Sometimes, it’s by feeling more. Or doing less.

People who thrive in life aren’t the ones who pick a side and stay there. They’re the ones who learn to move between both. Between action and rest. Logic and intuition. Grit and surrender.

If you feel stuck, ask yourself: have I only been leaning in one direction? Have I been trying harder instead of trying different?

Duality is a mindset. It’s not either/or. It’s both. You don’t have to be all hustle or all healing. You can want more and still be grateful. You can be grounded and wildly ambitious.

That’s your power - to hold two truths at once. Real power and clarity comes when you stop choosing one over the other and learn how to dance between them. That’s duality.

(I talk about this topic in episode 705 of the podcast)

2. Hold out for this kind of love

I think you should hold out for the kind of love where you don’t need a therapist and two friends to translate their last text.

Imagine that… A love that feels like clarity after years of people who only offered confusion. The kind of love where someone’s words and energy quiet your overthinking instead of feeding it. That is what you deserve.

Because love should never feel like detective work. It should feel like breathing easy because they say what they mean and they mean what they say.

3. SIX things to be grateful for

1- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life being passionate and unfiltered instead of being nonchalant.

2- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life betting on wild dreams instead of settling for a lukewarm existence.

3- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life being completely unbothered by other people’s opinions about me.

4- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life being a vibrant disco ball of energy, not a dimmed light in the corner.

5- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life being my one-of-a-kind, crazy self and attracting people on the same frequency.

6- I’m so thankful I get to spend this life being a magnet for miracles.

That’s it for today. Thank you for supporting The Opposite of Settling!
