🧠How to have faith in yourself
(no matter what)
I’m so grateful to everyone who’s picked up a copy of my new book “The Opposite of Settling. It’s available everywhere now!
Also, if you missed my live event, you can catch the re-play of it here. You’ll learn from myself on optimism, Yung Pueblo on self-awareness, and Jillian Turecki on truth-telling in dating.

*if this quote speaks to you, “The Opposite of Settling” will teach you how to use mindfulness, psychology, and optimism to attract the love you deserve.

THREE mindsets to help you reflect, rebel, and reinvent…
1. How to have faith in yourself
Most people think of faith as confidence in disguise: “I know I’ll win. I’ve got this.” But confidence is fragile. It’s a prediction that collapses the moment you’re wrong, laughed at, or rejected.
Faith, to me, is something deeper. Faith is curiosity. It’s not about predicting an outcome or needing certainty. It’s about being hungry enough to find out. It’s the burning question: what if?
That’s why curiosity is the only kind of faith that survives failure. Curiosity feeds on wrong turns. A curious person doesn’t need a guarantee before they act - they just need the itch to see what might happen. You take the tough class you might bomb. You pitch the half-baked idea. You tell the truth, even if it risks rejection. That’s faith: not in perfection, but in your ability to handle what shows up.
The irony is that people who accomplish the most rarely start confident. They start restless. They wonder if the rules are real, if the limits are fixed, if there’s more in them than they’ve been told. They don’t move because they know - they move because they wonder.
Curiosity also strips away judgment. You don’t sign up for improv at 35 because you’re sure you’ll be good. You do it because you want to see what awakens. You don’t move cities because you’re certain it’ll be perfect. You go because you want to discover who you’ll become.
Faith in yourself isn’t confidence. It’s curiosity - the loyalty to keep exploring, no matter what.
2. Enthusiasm
I think the best ingredient for a great life is enthusiasm. When did we stop getting excited about the little things? The sun’s out? Found a cool rock? Got a perfectly ripe avocado? Let’s celebrate.
Enthusiasm. Not being afraid to look ridiculous in the pursuit of joy.
The more enthusiasm you have, the more doors the universe throws open for you.
10/10 recommend putting joy first for once and being an enthusiastic little freak about enjoying life.
Enthusiasm says “I’m not interested in being nonchalant. I’m gonna be passionate and real and those who stick around are my people.” Enthusiasm is a magnet for serendipity, new friends, and stories for your memoir. It moves you from waiting to living.
The entire point of life is to be so wildly enthusiastic that people think you’re a bit crazy.
3. The plot twists will be beautiful
Which of these plot twists are you embracing?
Your life’s next plot twist will bring sunshine into your life, no matter how cloudy things have been.
Your life’s next plot twist will bring you someone whose effort and energy proves that love doesn’t need to be complicated.
Your life’s next plot twist will prove that walking away from what wasn’t meant for you led you straight to everything that is.
Your life’s next plot twist will feel like a hundred scattered pieces finally snapping into place.
Your life’s next plot twist will usher in a new reality where the life you prayed for is the life you’re living.
That’s it for today. See you next week.
