🧠How to be more optimistic
(don't let your brain fool you)
I think the key to a happy life is to celebrate how hot and hilarious you are instead of comparing yourself to others.
My upcoming book “The Opposite of Settling” is about you and your spark - the thing I hope you never lose in pursuit of love and purpose. In my book I talk about why your spark is more attractive than you think (research proves this!) and how to find people who amplify it instead of diminishing it. You can get the book for 7% off here. THANK YOU!

THREE mindsets to help you reflect, rebel, and reinvent…
1. “I’ve been here before, and I figured it out”
How do you actually become optimistic? It’s not just blindly hoping things work out.
Optimism isn’t blind faith, it’s memory. It’s remembering that you’ve survived worse. You’ve figured out things you didn’t think you could. You’ve healed. You’ve rebuilt. You’ve adapted. That’s evidence. And evidence is a powerful source of optimism no one can take away from you.
Think back over the past 6–12 months: what blindsided you but didn’t break you? What worked out in a way that surprised you? What did you handle better than you expected? Stack those receipts. Your brain loves to forget how capable you are, and highlight fear instead. You need reminders.
Think about the job you got when you thought you weren’t qualified. The breakup that crushed you but secretly freed you. That time you were convinced it wouldn’t work out… and yet, it did. Those aren’t just moments. That’s proof.
If you’re struggling to believe in the future right now, don’t try to predict it. Look at your past. You’ve already rebuilt with less than you have today. That’s not random.
Optimism isn’t about betting on the perfect outcome. It’s about betting on you, no matter what happens. That’s the most grounded, realistic kind of hope there is.
Optimism isn’t just memory, it’s also motion. Yes, your past matters. But so does what you’re doing right now. We tend wait to feel hopeful before we act, but that’s backward. Optimism often comes after action, not before. Every time you try, show up, send the email, go to the gym, push forward… you’re creating new receipts. New evidence that you're still in the game.
So if you want to feel more optimistic, don’t just “think positive.” Do things that give you more reasons to be. Collect past receipts, and create new ones. And when life gets chaotic, you won’t just have a mindset… you’ll have facts.

2. You know what’s attractive?
You know what's really attractive? A partner who doesn’t let their frustration become resentment. They talk it through while it’s a spark, they don’t let it become a fire.
Maybe you’re familiar with the opposite of this… Instead of bringing something up that bothered them, they tuck it away and pretend it doesn’t matter. But then they start pulling back and you don’t know why. You’re punished for a conversation that never even happened.
You deserve someone who doesn’t bottle things up and expect you to read the label. You deserve someone who believes honesty is an act of love.
3. Claim one of these mantras for JULY
And in July, life stops testing you and starts rewarding you.
And in July, your phone starts ringing with good news only.
And in July, the right people show up with the right energy and no confusion.
And in July, the waiting ends, and the receiving begins
And in July, the love you gave finally finds its way back to you, multiplied.
And in July, the detours turn into upgrades.
And in July, the only drama in your life is a dramatic pay raise.
That’s it for today. Thank you for supporting The Opposite of Settling!
