🧠 The "Down to Clown" Approach to Love

(humor is healing)

mindfulness for rule breakers, free spirits, & inner peace enthusiasts

Hello, friend. Being weird and occasionally unhinged is like having a secret key to unlocking joy in life. I hope you hang onto it in your personal life AND in your relationships :)

Let’s get into it. Here are three mindsets to help you be YOU.

THREE mindsets to help you reflect, rebel, and reinvent

1. The “Down to Clown” Approach to Love

Listen to today’s podcast about “emotional bids for connection” and why laughter and playfulness should be the foundation for any relationship. I talk about what leads to resentment, what playfulness looks like, and what humor offers in a relationship.

2. The cure for loneliness?

The best cure for loneliness is not more frequent interaction. It's more meaningful interaction. Many people enjoy solitude. They can spend up to ~75% of their time alone without feeling isolated. What matters most for well-being is the quality of connections, not the quantity. (AdamGrant)

Quality vs. quantity. One or two pure, real, and devoted friends in your life can change everything. Finding those people is certainly easier said than done, but it’s never too late to value consistency over big words, loud compliments, or flashy purchases. It’s never too late to find people who speak to your soul.

People who enter your life with big promises, over the top compliments, and superficial energy are rarely permanent. While it’s certainly fun to have that chapter in life, you deserve people who bring a sense of calm into your existence. Those are people who are patient with you, who are at peace with themselves, and who aren’t trying to prove anything.

3. The power of temporary people

The temporary people in life move you TOWARD what you deserve
 not away from it.

Grieving the loss of familiarity time and time again can be heavy. First date, second date, third date, start over.. Green flag, green flag, HUGE red flag, start over. It’s easy to feel defeated. But maybe some experiences and people are SUPPOSED to be temporary? Maybe their chapter in your life is purposeful to make another chapter the most rewarding one for you?

Temporary people move you in the direction you’re supposed to go. Temporary isn’t a reflection of what you lost. It’s a reflection of what you needed (even if that isn’t clear until later) and what you’ll come to gain. Temporary people come into your life to remind you of how much more you deserve. They remind you that what looks good on paper might not feel right in your heart. What a gift it is to discover that TODAY instead of looking back.

In the same way we have ‘seasons of questions’ and ‘seasons of answers’ in life, people mirror that. Some people’s purpose is to come into your life to help you answer questions like, “do I deserve better?” YES.

Sometimes there is nothing redeeming about certain people, but in the long run temporary people serve you in ways you don’t realize until later. When their chapter is over, you're not just moving on
you're leveling up. You're not walking away with nothing. You're walking away with the experience, the wisdom, and the confidence of someone who knows their worth and won't settle for less.

Their time in your life moves you TOWARD what you deserve
 NOT away from it.

That’s it for today. Until Thursday,
